Pop-up Volunteering: Family Literacy Night
Date: Thursday, April 19th
Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: 247 Thompson Rd, Princess Elizabeth Public School
Since 2005, Investing in Children has partnered with the Thames Valley District School Board to provide inquiry based Family Literacy Events to children in grades JK- 3.
Family Literacy Events begin with a story, then the children and their parents or caregivers rotate through a series of 8-10 activities that engage the families in unexpected ways of developing literacy. Each station also includes methods to bring the learning into the home. With inquiry based learning, the students’ questions, ideas and observations are placed at the centre of the learning experience.
Volunteers will assist with all aspects of the program and work with children and their caregivers as they dive into the literacy centres.
Spots are limited so register here.

Family Pop-up Volunteering: Community Living London Garden Revamp
Date: Saturday, May 12th
Time: 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Location: 25 Ford Crescent, London
GenNexters, we have something very exciting to offer! May 12, 2018, no need to leave your kids at home, in fact we are highly encouraging that you bring them! We want this Pop-up to be a family event, where as a family you can feel good giving back together and you can teach your children the true value of community engagement.
On Saturday, May 12, families will be helping to spruce up a Community Living London space, located at 25 Ford Crescent. This building is in need of some outdoor spring cleaning and we would love your help! Volunteers can expect to do some tidying up of the garden spaces, weeding, planting & watering flowers.
Flowers will be provided by Community Living London. Volunteers will need to dress appropriately for doing yard work, you can definitely expect to get a little messy. Also, if volunteers could please bring any gardening tools they have that could be useful that would be great. These could include: gardening gloves, shovels, rakes, pruners, edgers, water cans, wheelbarrows, etc.
Plenty of parking is available on site.
